FREE FOUR PILLARS CALCULATOR

BaZi Calculator

Calculate the Year, Month, Day, and Hour Pillars of your birth and begin with the structure that traditional Chinese astrology actually reads—not a generic zodiac label.

IN PLAIN LANGUAGE

A BaZi calculator converts a birth date, local birth time, and birthplace into four pairs of Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches—the Eight Characters known as the Four Pillars.

01

What a BaZi calculator calculates

BaZi means “Eight Characters.” Each of the four pillars contains one Heavenly Stem and one Earthly Branch, producing eight visible characters in total. The pillars correspond to the year, month, day, and hour, but they are not calculated by simply copying the Western calendar. Solar terms establish the traditional month boundaries, and the local birth moment must be converted consistently before the chart is formed.

A serious Four Pillars calculator should also identify the Day Master, hidden stems inside each branch, the balance of the Five Elements, and the Ten Gods relationships. These layers turn a list of characters into a chart that can be interpreted in context.

  • Year, Month, Day, and Hour Pillars
  • Heavenly Stems, Earthly Branches, and hidden stems
  • Day Master and Five Element distribution
  • Seasonal month command and Ten Gods relationships
02

Why birth time and place matter

The Hour Pillar changes across traditional two-hour periods. A missing or approximate birth time can therefore change one quarter of the visible chart and alter hidden elements, relationships, and later timing analysis. Place matters because the entered civil time belongs to a time zone with its own historical daylight-saving rules.

If your birth time is uncertain, calculate with the best documented time available and treat Hour Pillar conclusions as provisional. The Year, Month, and Day Pillars can still provide useful structure, but the limitation should remain visible rather than being concealed by a confident interpretation.

03

How to read the result

Start with the Day Master—the Heavenly Stem of the Day Pillar—then examine the month command because season determines whether an element is supported, exhausted, controlled, or dormant. Element percentages alone are not a verdict. The same amount of Wood can behave differently in spring heat, autumn dryness, or winter cold.

Next, read Ten Gods and structural relationships as roles around the Day Master. Finally, consider combinations, clashes, climate balance, useful elements, and luck cycles. This order prevents a common mistake: treating one attractive symbol or one “missing element” as the meaning of the whole chart.

BaZi, Four Pillars, and Chinese astrology calculator

These search terms usually point to the same calculation. “BaZi calculator” emphasizes the Eight Characters, while “Four Pillars calculator” emphasizes the four columns that contain them. “Chinese astrology calculator” is broader and may also refer to zodiac animals, lunar calendars, or Zi Wei Dou Shu, so it is important to confirm which system is being used.

This calculator is built for the Zi Ping BaZi tradition. It does not replace the chart with a twelve-animal horoscope, and it does not ask AI to guess the pillars. The chart is calculated first; interpretation follows the fixed result.

05

What the free chart can and cannot tell you

A birth chart can organize traditional ideas about temperament, resources, pressure, expression, relationships, and timing. It is most useful as a framework for reflection and comparison. It cannot establish certainty about a future event, diagnose health, guarantee wealth, or replace practical knowledge and professional advice.

Use the result to ask better questions: Which environments help you work well? Where do you overcompensate? What kinds of responsibility feel natural or draining? The value lies in a structured conversation with the chart, not in surrendering decisions to it.
