Complementary tendencies within one changing whole.

Yin and Yang are relational, not moral opposites. Yin gathers, receives, and cools; Yang expands, acts, and warms. Each contains the possibility of the other.

Traditional Chinese thought looks at the quality of relationship between them: excess, deficiency, transition, and timely return.
