Ten signs that give form and polarity to vital energy.

The ten Heavenly Stems are Jia, Yi, Bing, Ding, Wu, Ji, Geng, Xin, Ren, and Gui. Each combines one of the Five Elements with a yin or yang polarity.

Stems appear above the branches in a pillar. They are often used to describe what is expressed, visible, or active in a moment.
